Meditation YouTuber with 600,000 subscribers sexually harasses students in South Korea
A South Korean meditation YouTuber with over 600,000 subscribers is under police investigation for allegedly sexually harassing a student.
According to police on the 10th, the Seoul Gangseo Police Station issued a criminal investigation into the meditation YouTuber A in May.
The complaint has been accepted and an investigation is underway. A total of four victims have been reported to the police so far, including a minor.
Mr. A, who runs a volunteer group along with the meditation center, sexually harassed students at the center.
He also sexually harassed minors he met at volunteer groups. On the same day, JTBC aired interviews with victims who claim to have been sexually harassed by Mr. A.
Ms. B, who was sexually harassed while taking a class at the meditation center, said, "Towards the end of the class, I was suddenly told to turn around and put my hands on the wall.
When I touched the wall, he touched my body from head to toe from behind." When B protested against this behavior, A responded, "I like you, but I can't say it because you're married."
The parents of Ms. C, a minor with intellectual disabilities, alleged that their daughter was sexually harassed by Mr. A while volunteering.
Mr. C's mother said that the man put his hand inside her clothes and touched her body while saying, "It's very hot."
Another victim, Ms. D, was living overseas. When she returned to Korea, she received a sexually harassing message from Ms. A saying, "I like to sleep with you in my bed and kiss you."
In response, Ms. B filed a complaint with the police, and Ms. A was fined 2 million won and ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program in July of this year.
In relation to this, Mr. A has not made any statement. The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul is expanding its investigation to see if there are any other victims.
