China's new energy vehicles doing well, August sales up 30% year-on-year - Chinese report

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in August recorded double-digit increases compared to the same month last year.

In 2019, the number of new electric vehicles sold was 1.1 million, up 30% from the previous year. New electric vehicle (NEV) sales accounted for 44.8% of the total.
In terms of exports, the number of NEV exports was 110,000 units, an increase of 22%.
Meanwhile, NEV production volume in the first eight months of this year increased 29% year-on-year to 7,008,000 units, while sales volume increased 30.9% year-on-year to 7,037,000 units.
The number of vehicles exported reached 37.5% of the total. Exports increased 12.6% to 818,000 units. In China, the car replacement support policy was strengthened from July this year, and subsidies for replacement purchases were provided.
In August, the number of applications for car replacement subsidies exceeded 10,000 per day on average. The NEV market in particular is showing momentum, with both production and sales numbers continuing to increase.
