SK Energy builds production line dedicated to sustainable aviation fuel, enabling continuous production (South Korea)

SK Energy, a major oil former seller, announced that it will build the first production line in South Korea dedicated to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using a mixed processing method, and will start production in October.
The new production line will use biofuels such as oil and animal fats to produce low-carbon products such as SAF. The new production line will have a 5-kilometer-long dedicated piping in the bio-raw material storage tank.
The new facility allows for continuous input of bio-based raw materials into the production process. This allows for uninterrupted production of SAF. SK Energy will now be able to manage the supply and demand of raw materials needed for its SAF business,
The company has completed a value chain leading to sales. In order to ensure a stable supply of bio-based raw materials, it has established a subsidiary of SK Innovation, which handles crude oil former sales, etc., and exports petroleum products.
SK Trading International invested in a company that produces raw materials from waste resources in 2023. In addition, SK Energy acquired International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in June for the production and sale of SAF.
The company has obtained the international certification "ISCC CORSIA," which is in line with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Civil Aviation (CORSIA).
The company plans to provide SAF for Korean Air's passenger aircraft from early 2025.
