Singer former member's meditation YouTuber sent to prosecutors on charges of non-consensual indecent assault in South Korea
A meditation YouTuber who is a former singer and has 620,000 subscribers has been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of non-consensual indecent assault.
On the 24th, Seoul Gangseo Police Station arrested YouTuber A on the 19th of this month.
The prosecutor's office said that the suspect, A, had met with a student under the pretext of giving him meditation lessons and engaged in obscene acts.
So far, a total of four victims have filed charges against suspect A, and three of those cases have been referred to the prosecution. The remaining victim is a minor with intellectual disabilities, who was arrested by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The victim, who was sexually assaulted by suspect A, told JTBC, "At the end of the meditation lesson, I was suddenly told to get up, turn around and put my hands on the wall.
"Then (suspect A) touched me from behind from head to toe," she said. "I said, 'This isn't right,' and he suddenly grabbed me around the waist and said, 'I love you.
"But he said, 'I'm married, so I can't say that.'" The parents of the minor victim, who met Suspect A at a volunteer activity, claimed, "(Suspect A) said, 'It's really hot.'
"I heard that he put his hand inside her clothes and stroked her body while she was still in the room," he said. After being referred to the prosecution, suspect A posted a new meditation video on the 22nd and continues to be active without announcing any special position.
Meanwhile, in 2019, suspect A was sentenced to a fine of 2 million won (approximately 210,000 yen) by a court for sending sexually-charged messages to a female subscriber.
Suspect A worked as a singer and appeared on various television programs.
