Jang Keun Suk tearfully reveals her battle with thyroid cancer... Her first reaction was ”Am I going to die?”

Actor and singer Jang Keun Suk has revealed about his battle with thyroid cancer.

On the 25th, the YouTube channel ‘I am Jang Geun Suk’ posted a video titled "I will tell you everything from my thyroid cancer diagnosis to my battle with the disease and up to now."

Jang Geun Suk said "It's funny that I talk about my illness all the time here and there, but I changed my thoughts about life positively after I got sick and I want to give a message to those who suffer from the same illness as me. I also wanted to share information about the disease and have a dialogue with many people," he began.

Jang Geun Suk, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer during a medical check-up last October, said, "My first reaction when I heard 'You have cancer cells' was ’What? Am I going to die?' I was like, ‘What? I don't know how to explain how I felt, but I think a lot of patients do. I was like, ‘Me? Me? And I had no family history. There was nothing at all that could have caused it. It took me a long time to accept why my thyroid, which is the part of the body that regulates hormones, had to go through this," he confided.

He continued, "I couldn't have the surgery right away due to a medical problem, and even now it's not easy to find an operating theatre, but from then on I made an appointment in advance and waited for the surgery to take place at the end of May’. I decided to cancel my schedule from the end of April until the end of the year and stay in hospital to concentrate on fixing my body."

Jang Geun Suk confided, "We are in a profession where someone has to stand in front of us and show me in front of the camera. I found it a bit difficult to pretend it was nothing, but when it came to me, I thought, ‘Just wait and take it’. When I sang in front of an audience and did something in front of the camera, even when I was filming The Influencer's, it was a situation I knew. I wanted to live well, thinking this too shall pass. I never once thought to everyone, ‘I'm sick, I need help, don't stress me’, and until the operation, only me and my family knew and nobody else knew."

Jang Geun Suk, wearing an outfit with the words ‘I can't die, NEVER DIE HOSPITAL’, said it was "two days before I was hospitalised" and that he found the outfit by chance at a pop-up store in a shop owned by a friend. He was seen in tears, saying, "I was so greatly moved and encouraged that such a hopeful message was put into the clothes I had to wear, as if by fate". Jang Geun Suk said, "There was no one I could talk to about it. Because no one would understand. This dress gave me so much courage and gave me the strength to overcome everything. I was really grateful", showing tears.

He also said that he is now in a state of complete recovery after a successful surgery and is watching over him.

Meanwhile, Jang Geun Suk was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in October last year and recently underwent surgery after confessing that he was fighting the disease.
