Cho continued, regarding the direction of Security Council reform, saying, "We will enhance democracy, transparency and representativeness, and promote a balanced geographical distribution.
"We must expand the number of non-permanent members so that the Security Council's share of the membership is ensured," he said, highlighting the need to strengthen the role of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) in light of the growing importance of conflict prevention.
Cho also stressed that "we must deepen our efforts to improve the international regime in order to advance the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."
"Through our participation in this conference, the government will present our vision for the future direction of global governance," the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
