According to fire officials on the 27th, the 8-year-old girl was killed in a car accident on the afternoon of the 26th after being taken to a hospital in Daejeon, 80 kilometers away, where she was receiving treatment.
The girl went to Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, but was not able to receive treatment because there was no pediatric emergency physician on site.
The local emergency medical center, Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, has only one pediatric emergency physician, but he only treats pediatric emergency patients during the daytime on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The girl's guardian called 119 at around 8:04 pm in front of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital. The ambulance was dispatched to another regional emergency medical center in the area, Dangguk Hospital.
(Dankook) We contacted the university hospital to see if they could transfer the patient, but they refused to accept him, saying that "although they have an emergency specialist, it would be difficult for him to provide treatment."
In the end, the ambulance team contacted nine nearby medical facilities, and at about 9:49 p.m.
The baby girl was then transferred to Chungnam National University Hospital in Daejeon, 80 kilometers from Cheonan.
