Google Korea celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 30th and announced the economic impact it has had in Korea. According to the report, the company has achieved 100% growth in the economy in the 20 years since it entered Korea in 2004 to 2023.
The company has created economic value of approximately 131 trillion won (approximately 14.2552 trillion yen). In 2023 alone, the economic effect is expected to be 37 trillion won (approximately 4.0283 trillion yen). Of this, 38% will come from the company.
This is due to the export business that was established in 2016. This means that Google Korea is actively supporting Korean companies in their global expansion. In addition, 552,000 jobs have been created.
Google Korea CEO Kim Kyung-hoon announced on the same day that the company will add an "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Essentials Course" to its "Google Career Certificate."
The company also presented plaques to Samsung Electronics and SM Entertainment. Samsung Electronics Vice President Kim Jong Hyun said, "Android OS is bringing new experiences to consumers.
"We will work hard to bring about innovation and provide new value not only in AI but also in areas such as virtual reality (VR)," said SM Entertainment's Jung Cho.
CEO Ruhyuk said, "Google and YouTube have become the most important portals for us to meet with our fans and the general public."
