”2024 Werther Garden” opens at Lotte World Tower, Goethe statue decorated with plants (South Korea)
Lotte C&T, which operates the high-rise building Lotte World Tower, recently announced the opening of 2024 Werther Garden within the facility.
The 2024 Werther Garden is a garden that will take up an area of approximately 1,000 square meters around the statue of the German writer Goethe in World Park.
The entrance to the park features a four-metre-tall Signature Pavilion, inspired by classic European styles and reinterpreted in a modern way.
The plantings were planted with the Karl Foerster, a typical German tree, and the Korean variety Karl Foerster, which grows in Korea, to show the changing of the seasons.
Approximately 15,000 plants, including white-tipped dogwoods, were planted, along with nectar-producing plants, so you can see butterflies and insects gathering there naturally.
The Goethe statue at Lotte World Tower was 3D scanned from the Goethe statue in Tiergarten, a park in Berlin, Germany, and installed in November 2016.
The late Shin Kyuk-ho, Honorary Chairman and founder of Lotte Group, expressed his wish to make the company a company loved by everyone, just like Charlotte in "The Sorrows of Young Werther."
The company name Lotte was chosen with this in mind.
