The first trial of the middle school student who assaulted People Power lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin will begin at the end of this month. On the 7th, according to the legal community, the 26th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court decided to hold the trial for defendant A (
15) was scheduled for the first hearing on the 23rd. On the 13th, the prosecution put defendant A on trial without indictment and requested medical custody.
Treatment custody is when a person is deemed to be at risk of reoffending and needs to receive treatment.
If the defendant is subjected to a medical custody measure, he will be detained in the facility for treatment and custody, and that period will serve as a substitute for the execution of the sentence.
Prior to this, defendant A was accused of hitting Rep. Bae on the head 15 times with a stone at a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on January 25 this year.
Bae suffered a torn scalp and was hospitalized for three days for treatment. During police questioning, defendant A said, "I went to the scene of the incident to see an aspiring entertainer, and by chance I met Bae.
The weapon used to attack Representative Bae was a business card-sized stone made of concrete that Defendant A had picked up at an apartment complex near his home.
Meanwhile, during the police investigation, Defendant A allegedly handed over his wallet to Defendant Sol (28), who was present at a pre-arrest interrogation for allegedly defacing the wall of Gyeongbokgung Palace with spray paint last year.
He was also seen throwing coffee at actress Yu A In (38) as she was leaving Mapo Police Station after her arrest warrant for drug charges was dismissed.
