BTS' JIMIN and JUNG KOOK nominated for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards

JIMIN and JUNG KOOK of BTS have been nominated for the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards’.

　On the 8th (local time), Europe's largest music awards ceremony ‘2024 MTV Europe Music Awards’ (Europe Music Awards) announced that JIMIN and JUNG KOOK of the group ‘BTS’ had been selected as candidates for the ‘Best K-Pop’ category. The announcement was made.

　BTS is the most frequent winner of this newly established category in 2019. This year's nominations have special significance in that JIMIN and JUNG KOOK were each nominated as solo artists.

　JUNG KOOK has won two awards at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards. He beat Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift with his solo single ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ for ‘Best Song’ ( Best Song), beating out the likes of Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and many others. They were also named ‘Best K-Pop’ (Best K-Pop) for the best K-Pop artist of the year.

　The duo have also had a long run on the US Billboard charts: according to the latest chart released by Billboard on 8 October (dated 12 October), the title track ‘Who’ from JIMIN's second solo album ‘MUSE’ has risen four places to No. 26 on the main songs chart ‘Hot 100’ from the previous week. It ranked at No. 26 on the main Hot 100 chart, up four places from the previous week. ‘MUSE’, which contains this song, reached No. 103 on the main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘MUSE’ also reached No. 1 on the ‘World Albums’ chart. ‘Who’ charted on the ‘Global (excluding US)’ (No. 12), ‘Global 200’ (No. 13), ‘Streaming Songs’ (No. 20) and ‘Pop Airplay’ (No. 26).

　JUNG KOOK scored No. 81 on the ‘Global 200’ with ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ and No. 161 with ‘Standing Next to You’, the title track from his solo album ‘GOLDEN’. ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ and ‘Standing Next to You’ reached No. 45 and No. 100 respectively on the ‘Global (excluding US)’.
