In response to North Korea's claim that South Korea had sent an unmanned reconnaissance drone into Pyongyang, the South Korean military made it clear on the 11th that this was not true.
Minister of National Defense Kim Young-hyun was the parliamentary advisor to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, which was held at the Ministry of National Defense building in Yongsan on the same day.
In response to questions from lawmakers about the news that broke during the investigation, he said, "That is not the case," and "We will check." After that, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced, "We will check the facts regarding North Korea's claims."
"We cannot accept any responsibility for the recent series of events," he said, but added, "The full responsibility for the recent series of events lies with North Korea, whose provocations, such as sending balloons filled with filth and garbage, are vile, low-grade, and worthy of international shame.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff also stated, "We strongly urge North Korea to refrain from rash actions and to exercise self-restraint," and "If North Korea threatens the safety of the South Korean people in any way,
"If this occurs, the South Korean military will retaliate firmly and fiercely," North Korea said in a "Major Foreign Ministry Statement" on the same day in the Korean Central News Agency, which said, "South Korea will carry out unmanned aerial vehicles at midnight on the 3rd, 9th, and 10th of October.
"The North Korean government used a drone to carry out the infuriating act of barbarism by scattering political propaganda leaflets in the air above central Pyongyang," it said, adding, "This is a severe political and military provocation that undermines the national sovereignty and dignity of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
"If the provocative act of sending a drone into the airspace of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is carried out, there will be no more such warnings and we will take immediate action," the statement said.
North Korea then scattered "trash balloons" toward South Korea. The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced, "North Korea is again conducting a wrap-up party, dropping objects believed to be trash balloons toward South Korea."
This marks the 28th wrap-up party this year for North Korea's "trash balloon" aimed at South Korea. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said, "Considering the current wind direction, it is likely that the object believed to be a trash balloon will be heading toward the North.
"The Korean people should be careful of falling objects, and if they find a fallen balloon, they should not touch it but go to the nearest military base."
Please report this to the police or the police."
