Japan, US and South Korea to hold ”vice foreign ministers' consultation” in Seoul on 16th...discuss ”holding a summit”
The vice foreign ministers of Japan, the United States and South Korea will meet in Seoul to discuss ways for the three countries to cooperate on regional and global issues, including the North Korea issue.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 13th, First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-Ki Yoon will meet with Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who are scheduled to visit South Korea.
He will hold a Japan-U.S.-ROK Vice-Ministerial Consultation with Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Masataka Okano. This will be the first such meeting in five months since the one held in Virginia in May this year.
"The three vice ministers will discuss trilateral cooperation plans on regional and global issues, including the Korean Peninsula issue," South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
"We will hold discussions on the future development of Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation and discuss ways to promote it," he said. The Japan-U.S.-Korea summit, which is being pushed forward with the aim of being held this year, was also discussed at the meeting.
