"This move is significant given Telegram's local user base, which is expected to grow by 25% to 12 million users compared to 2023," he said.
Half a million Kazakhs use Telegram every month, more than half of Kazakhstan's total population of 20 million.
The announcement comes as the Kazakh government joins forces with the American Chamber of Commerce and major U.S. tech companies such as Meta and Apple.
The news was revealed during a meeting with representatives of Kazakhstan. At the meeting, Kazakh officials discussed data protection and the issue of fraud and fake accounts on social media platforms.
Meta revealed that it used AI to block 1.2 billion fake accounts worldwide in the third quarter.
Minister Madiev said, "The Kazakhstan government is committed to promoting digital sphere
