The two companies announced that they have partnered to establish a new plant for regenerative braking for electric vehicles at the Žilina plant. The Novaky plant will be the first European production site for PE systems.
The drive unit integrates an electric motor, inverter, and accelerator. Hyundai Mobis will invest approximately 350 billion won (approximately 38.3811 billion yen) in the new plant.
The company will invest 250 billion won (approximately 27.387 billion yen) in the new plant, which is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025. The annual production capacity of PE systems will be 300,000 units.
In addition, the company plans to invest 95 billion won (approximately 1.04 billion yen) in its existing Zilina plant to develop regenerative brakes and airbags.
The company will build a new production plant. The company established a Slovakian subsidiary in early 2004 and built a module factory in the Žilina region. Since then, it has been collaborating with the Slovak government for more than 20 years.
The company currently produces battery systems (BSA) in the Czech Republic and is building a BSA factory in Spain for German car giant Volkswagen.
