Democratic Party of Korea: ”Kim Geon-hee's wife not indicted... Prosecutor General should be impeached” = South Korea

The Democratic Party of Korea once again stressed that "Inspector General Shim Woo-jung must be impeached." This is because the prosecution is investigating Kim Gun-Hee, the spouse of President Yoon Seok-yeol, for allegedly being impeached.
This is a backlash against the decision not to indict Kim Jong Un's wife, Kim Kun-hee, on suspicion of manipulating the stock price of German Motors. Kim Yoon-deok, secretary-general of the Democratic Party of Korea, said at a press conference at the National Assembly on the 20th,
"With the prosecution's decision not to indict, the prosecution in the Republic of Korea has died. It is the position of the Democratic Party of Korea that we must respond firmly to the demands of the people (who want the truth about the stock price manipulation allegations to be revealed)," he said.
He added, "(The decision not to indict Kim) is a major incident that requires reform to the point of dismantling the prosecution. Prosecutor General Shim must be held responsible for abandoning a proper investigation, which led to the indictment."
"This is an issue that all the prosecutors involved in the decision not to indict, including Prosecutor General Shim and Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office Chief Prosecutor Lee Chang-soo, must take responsibility for," he added.
Prior to this, about 40 members of the Democratic Party held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 18th and announced, "We will consider impeaching Prosecutor General Shim, Prosecutor General Lee, and Seoul Central District Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon.
"We will push for the impeachment of the head of the second anti-corruption investigation department of the prosecution's office and others," he said. However, he drew a line at the possibility of impeaching President Yoon, saying, "It is not something the party leadership will consider."
"Impeachment of the president has never been discussed at the party level. It is an extremely personal thing that some lawmakers are doing," Kim said.
