”I don't drive”... Man in his 20s arrested for drunk driving after police officer leaves - South Korea
A man in his 20s who was drunk driving while evading the police, causing an accident and fleeing the scene was arrested by the police. The Seoul Gwanak Police Station arrested a man in his 20s, suspect A, for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunken driving).
According to the police, on the 13th of this month, at around 6:02 am, the suspect A was driving a two-lane road in Shinlim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
He was found by the police after a nearby resident suspected drunk driving and reported him to the police. At the time, suspect A said, "I had been drinking at a bar and was heading home." A police officer found him in a car parked nearby.
The police checked the bonnet but could not find the car that had just been driven. However, the police suspected that Suspect A had not returned home from the scene and was wandering around the area, so they were patrolling the area.
At around that time, he noticed a car moving slowly. Suspect A continued driving the car, ignoring the police officer's orders to stop, and collided with another car. He continued to flee.
Suspect A got out of the car in an alley about 2 kilometers away, abandoned it and fled. Suspect A was eventually arrested at a convenience store and a breathalyzer test showed that his blood alcohol level was over 0.08%.
It was confirmed that the number of license revocations had been announced. A police source said, "We plan to conduct additional investigations on suspect A and then send him to the prosecution."
