South Korea to assume APEC presidency for first time in 20 years, with theme of ”restoring economic dynamics”

South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance, Choi Sang-mok, will chair the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting next year and has set "economic dynamics" as the main topic of discussion.
On the 22nd, South Korea's Ministry of Strategy and Finance stated, "Deputy Prime Minister Choi presented the following points at the 2024 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting held in Lima, Peru on the 20th and 21st (local time)."
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Choi officially accepted the role of chair of next year's APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting. This marks the first time in 20 years that South Korea will become the APEC chair country.
The finance ministers' meeting will be held in Incheon in October next year. Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Trade Choi said, "We will share ideas so that APEC can play an active role in resolving global issues."
"We need to strengthen our ability to discover and expand new fields," he said. During the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Choi also met with finance ministers from major countries and exchanged views on economic cooperation.
