”Drugs that help you study”... South Korean student arrested for illegally trading ADHD drugs
Police have arrested teenagers and people in their twenties for illegally selling Concerta, a drug used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), online. The drug was being sold on social media as a "drug that helps you study."
The Dongjak Police Station in Seoul has arrested a teenager who is suspected of illegally selling and purchasing Concerta between August 13 and October 10.
On the 23rd, the government announced that it had arrested two people in their twenties and three in their twenties. One of the sales managers has now been referred to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Law.
According to police investigations, the three sellers committed the crime by reselling drugs prescribed by hospitals online.
The four were confirmed to have confessed that they had purchased the drug through social media in order to improve their grades in school. Police conducted urine and hair tests on the four and received drug test results from the National Forensic Service.
A police official said, "After completing additional investigations, we plan to send the remaining three suspects to the prosecution in the near future."
