China's industrial companies of national scale or above see profits fall 3.5% year-on-year in January-September period - Chinese media
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the total profits of industrial enterprises with national-level or larger revenues (enterprises with annual main operating revenues of 20 million yen or more) in the first nine months of the year fell 3.5% compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, mining profits fell 10.7% to 896.38 billion formers (approximately 19.3 trillion yen), while manufacturing fell 3.
The domestic production and supply industry of electricity, thermal energy, gas and water increased by 12.1% to 599.29 billion formers (approximately 12.9 trillion yen).
Looking at profits by major industry, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industries showed high growth rates, up 52.5%, while electricity and energy production and supply industries showed a 13.8% increase.
The sorting and selection industry saw a 21.9% decrease, while the non-metallic mineral product manufacturing industry saw a 51.0% decrease. In addition, the petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industry and the black metal smelting and rolling industry both saw a loss after a profit in the same period last year.
During the same period, the operating income of industrial enterprises of national or larger size increased by 2.1% to 99.2 trillion yen (approximately 2140 trillion yen), and the operating costs increased by 2.4% to 84.7 trillion yen (approximately 1820 trillion yen).
The operating profit margin was 5.27%, down 0.31 percentage points from the same period last year. Looking at September alone, profits were down 27.1% from the same month last year.
