ROSE (BLACKPINK), ”APT.” is doing well... Malaysian government points out harmfulness, ”against Eastern culture”
As BLACKPINK's ROSE and pop star Bruno Mars' collaboration song "APT." gains attention, the Malaysian government has warned that the song encourages inappropriate behavior.
Recently, the Malaysian Ministry of Health posted on its official SNS account pointing out some of the lyrics of "APT.". "APT." includes the lines "Kissy face,
kissy face. Sent to your phone but, I'm trying to kiss your lips for
"Turn real" (I got a kissing face emoji on your phone, but I'm really going to kiss you on the lips), ...'m really going to kiss you on the lips), "Turn real" (I'm really going to kiss you on the lips), "Turn real" (I'm really going to kiss you on the lips), "Turn real"
this APT. into a club. I'm talking drink, dance, smoke, freak, party all
Lyrics such as "Let's turn this apartment into a club. Drink, dance, smoke, go crazy and party all night long."
The Malaysian Ministry of Health took issue with this part and criticized the use of the term "apattu" as a term for seduction between members of the opposite sex, saying it goes against Eastern cultural values.
"What's more worrying is that the song is frequently used on social media and has seeped into everyday life, potentially leading to children humming it without understanding the message," he added.
"As parents, educators and communities, Malaysians must be more vigilant and vigilant to the increasingly unfiltered influence of Western culture," it said.
"APT." is a new song in which ROSE participated in both composition and lyrics. It was created based on a drinking game motif, and the collaboration with pop star Bruno Mars has attracted a lot of attention.
As a result, "APT." is currently dominating not only Korean music charts but also the charts of global music streaming platform Spotify, continuing to rise.
But Malaysia has pointed out the harmful effects of this trend, with some of them being Muslim, 60% of whose population is Muslim, and drinking alcohol is completely forbidden.
Malaysian netizens expressed sympathy, saying, "The song is addictive, but you need to listen carefully to the lyrics."
On the other hand, there were also opinions that "a song is just a song," and the debate became heated.
