Europe's only Solution Advanced Materials copper foil plant in Hungary begins operations, plans to expand into North America - Korea

Solutions Advanced Materials (formerly Doosan Solutions), a company engaged in bio-materials business, announced that it has begun producing copper foil at its second factory in Hungary.
The Hungarian plant has an annual production capacity of 23,000 tons. Adding the 15,000 tons from the existing No. 1 plant, the total production capacity in Europe will be 30,800
The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons. In the long term, the company plans to build a third plant in Hungary, bringing its total annual production capacity to 100,000 tons. The third plant will be built to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
The Hungarian factory, located in the Tatabanya Industrial Park, is the only copper foil factory in Europe. The company has signed copper foil supply contracts with various companies and is the leader in the European copper foil market.
Following Europe, the company is also building a production base in North America. Its first copper foil plant in Canada, scheduled to break ground in 2023, is being funded by the Quebec provincial government with 150 billion won (approximately 16.62 billion won).
The construction is proceeding after receiving an incentive of about 10 million yen. Mass production is planned to start in 2026 with an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons. In the long term, the annual production capacity is expected to be 63,000 tons.
Through this, the company aims to increase its annual copper foil production in Europe and the US to a total of 163,000 tons.
