Based on the state of Teacher A's body, the police do not believe that homicide is the case, and are currently investigating the specific circumstances of the incident.
Recently, Mr. A has been in charge of eight students who require special support, including four students with severe disabilities.
Under the current Special Education Act, the capacity of a special class in an elementary school is six students. However, a special education student transferred to the school in March, and about four months later, one student from a general class was transferred to the special education class.
Teacher A was transferred to a new class and was put in charge of eight students. In addition to the eight students in his class, teacher A also had to provide guidance to six students in the integrated class who were receiving special education, and he also had to carry out administrative duties.
A source in the field of special needs education said, "Teacher A was in a situation where he couldn't use paid leave even if he wanted to take sick leave because of the nature of his job as a special needs teacher."
The teacher had been employed for less than five years and was reportedly planning to get married next year.
In response to the request from the schools, the Incheon Office of Education decided to hold the exam for three months in March, April, and May.
A police official said, "We cannot disclose the specific circumstances of his death," but added, "There is no suspicion of criminal activity."
