South Koreans rank last in all categories in global ”life satisfaction” survey

A public opinion poll has revealed that South Korea has the lowest life satisfaction. On the 30th (local time), the organizers of the Saudi Arabia Future Investment Initiative (FII) announced that the survey, which will run from July 15 to 27,
The survey, conducted up to the end of the current fiscal year, targeted 50,700 people aged 18 and over in 24 countries. The percentage of people who answered "satisfied" to the question "Are you satisfied with your life?" was 100% in Korea and 100% in Japan.
Turkey had the lowest satisfaction rate at 39%, followed by Türkiye (41%) and Japan (43%). Meanwhile, the countries with the highest satisfaction rates were Saudi Arabia (84%), Egypt (81%) and India (82%).
South Korea, France and Argentina were last in terms of satisfaction with the state of their country, at 14% each. China (80%), Saudi Arabia (78%) and India (68%) were also ranked the lowest.
The percentage of people who cited "cost of living" as the "most important issue" was higher in Türkiye (64%), Argentina (63%), Mexico (50%), and Indonesia.

The percentage of people who placed importance on economic aspects was relatively low. The surveyed countries were divided into two groups: the "Global North," which refers to developed countries located mainly in the Northern Hemisphere, and emerging and developing countries located near the equator and in the Southern Hemisphere.
Twelve countries were selected from each of the four regions: the Global South, the Middle East, and the United States. Responses to each question were tabulated into two categories: "Satisfied" and "Dissatisfied."
