South Korean Foreign Minister: ”K-Silk Road Cooperation Initiative to be Realized with Five Central Asian Countries”
On the 4th, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol said, "We will cooperate closely with the five Central Asian countries and develop a multilateral cooperation plan based on the principles of accompaniment, integration and creation."
"We plan to make the 'K-Silk Road Cooperation Initiative' more concrete," he said.
In his keynote speech at the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum held at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul that morning, Minister Cho called for a "mutually beneficial partnership between Korea and Central Asia."
"Korea and Central Asia have had ties through the ancient Silk Road for over 1,400 years.
"Through this process, today's Korea and Central Asia have become partners of goodwill and trust."
"Next year, we will hold the Korea-Central Asia Summit for the first time in Korea, and take the first step towards the K-Silk Road cooperation initiative," he said.
"I hope that we can further flesh out the outcome projects and themes for the summit to be held next year," he said.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, and Ambassador of Turkmenistan to South Korea, as well as delegations from five countries, attended the event.
