The female driver, Suspect A, was arrested and sent to the police. At around 7:57 a.m. today, Suspect A left the police station with her face hidden by a white mask, asking, "Why did I get behind the wheel when I don't have a (driver's) license?
In response to questions from reporters such as "Do you have anything to say to the victims?" and "Is there anything you would like to say to the victims?", he repeatedly replied only "I'm sorry" and quickly left.
The suspect, A, was arrested at around 1:39 p.m. on the 2nd at Teheran-ro, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
He is suspected of rear-ending seven cars in a row and driving the wrong way. Nine people were reportedly injured in the accident. Prior to the accident, suspect A was driving a car with a child on a road in Geoyo-dong, Songpa-gu.
He ran over a woman in her 30s who was pushing a baby stroller and fled the scene. During police investigations, suspect A reportedly stated that he had taken a tranquilizer.
On the 3rd, police applied for an arrest warrant for suspect A on charges of flight resulting in injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and violation of the Road Traffic Act, and arrested him in central Seoul.
On the 4th, the court issued an arrest warrant for suspect A.
