Simultaneous rallies in downtown areas over the weekend... People's Power representative Han Dong-hoon calls it ”military demonstration to intimidate judges” (South Korea)
On the weekend of the 9th, the Democratic Party and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a large-scale rally in downtown Seoul, while the People Power Party (ruling party) held a "court threat rally to protect Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea."
" People's Power representative Han Dong-hoon wrote on Feibook that day, "They are acting as if they are doing it separately, but anyone can see that the 'Korean Confederation of Trade Unions + candlelight vigil + together' is a single entity.
"They are doing it as one team, the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party. Last time, there was no response when the Democratic Party did it alone, so this time they are just pretending to be different and trying to do it together," he wrote.
Han said, "When the independence and fairness of the judiciary is so blatantly threatened, the damage will be felt by all citizens. Common sense citizens should not accept the 'judiciary threat and armed coercion' that Lee Jae-myung has been given.
"The Democratic Party of Korea seems to have joined forces with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions to seriously shake up the government," Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People's Power Party, wrote in a statement.
"The people will definitely judge those who try to destroy the constitutional order and bring down the president," he warned.
He pointed out that the Democratic Party of Korea, which has been in a historically difficult position since its founding, was given a heavy sentence in the first trial on charges of espionage, and that "the Democratic Party of Korea is in solidarity with those who are trying to 'overthrow the liberal democratic system' without any self-reflection.
"What fear does the Democratic Party of Korea, which has been pressuring the prosecution with absolute parliamentary dictatorship, and Chairman Lee Jae-myung, who is convinced of her innocence, have?
"Are they going to let him out of the courtroom? They're going to build an ironclad wall of bulletproof measures, with prosecutors being impeached in the National Assembly and the court being threatened outside, so his crime will not go away."
