Putin signs Russia-North Korea treaty to ”help each other in case of war”
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a treaty on the 9th (local time) under which Russia and North Korea will provide military assistance to each other if either side is attacked by force and faces a state of war.
"President Putin signed the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with North Korea, which includes the above-mentioned provisions," TASS reported.
Prior to this, the Russian parliament and the upper house of parliament both unanimously passed a bill to ratify the treaty submitted by President Putin.
On the other hand, if North Korea also goes through the ratification and signing procedures and signs the instrument of ratification with Russia, the treaty will remain in force indefinitely.
The treaty was signed by President Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jung Eun in Pyongyang on June 19th of this year.
This is said to have elevated the relationship between the two countries to the level of a "military alliance."
