According to industry sources, on the 11th, Kakao will begin full-scale administrative litigation procedures against the Personal Information Commission's imposition of a 15.1 billion won (approximately 1.7 billion yen) fine on the 1st and the correction order.
Prior to this, at a general meeting on May 22nd, the Personal Information Commission imposed a fine of 15,141,960,000 won (approximately 1.7 billion yen) and a non-penal fine of 7,800,000 won (approximately 860,000 yen) on Kakao.
It was revealed that the personal information of 696 users of KakaoTalk's open chat service was exposed on a specific website, and that hackers had accessed over 60,000 pieces of data.
However, at the time, Kakao argued that the leaked information was merely a membership serial number and temporary ID, and was not considered personal information, teasing an administrative lawsuit.

We will respond appropriately."
