On the 12th (local time), Coinbase launched the Coinbase 50 Index, a new benchmark index that tracks over 50 digital assets.
The COIN50 Index covers the major cryptocurrencies and tokens listed on exchanges and reflects the trends in the cryptocurrency market.
Six cryptocurrencies make up 91% of the index: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dozicoin, Ripple, and Currency.
With this announcement, Coinbase is primarily targeting emerging markets and crypto-friendly regions
The exchange said that derivatives linked to the index will be offered outside of major markets such as the U.S., U.K. and Canada. Access to the index will be limited to qualified institutional investors only.
They can track the performance of their assets indefinitely through perpetual futures contracts on the Coinbase International Exchange.
Qualified retail investors can access the product through Coinbase Advanced.
