South Korea: Man in his 20s sentenced to one year in prison for dumping 27 Ttareungi into Seongbuk River
A man in his 20s has been sentenced to prison for dumping 27 "Ttareungyi" unmanned bicycles, a rental service run by the city of Seoul, into a river in Seoul.
On the 13th, the Seoul Northern District Court sentenced suspect A (21), who was on trial for throwing 27 Ttareungi into a river and damaging it, to one year in prison and a fine of 1
The suspect was sentenced to 10,000 won (approximately 110,000 yen). Suspect A is accused of throwing 27 dareungi into a river three times on June 9th and 12th in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.
Part of the Tdareungi that had been dumped into Seongbukcheon Stream was found with its main frame and front wheel completely separated.
Police received a report that several trolls had been abandoned under a bridge.
The police analyzed the security cameras in the neighborhood and found that suspect A was seen dumping the dung in the river and on the promenade in turn. The police investigation revealed that suspect A had committed the crime due to family discord and relationship problems.
The court found that in addition to damaging the ddareungi, suspect A committed another crime in October last year and killed a slut in April this year.
He pointed out that he was given a suspended prison sentence by the Suwon District Court and is currently undergoing an appeal hearing, and that he was given a fine for allegedly damaging property by setting fire to a ddareungi, and said, “I think that a suspension of execution is better than a practical punishment.”
"I determined that the sentence was appropriate," he said in explaining the reasons for the sentence.
