The charm of ‘vocalist JIN’ is imbued in various genres of music based on the band's sound. JIN participated in the overall production of the album, including directly writing the lyrics to the fan song ‘In Love’, and showed his musical ability.
Below are some questions and answers from JIN, who is releasing his first solo album ‘Happy’, via his agency BIGHIT MUSIC.
Q. How do you feel about releasing your 1st solo album ‘Happy’?
First of all, it means a lot to have a solo album under my name, and I want my fans to be happy. I also hope that everyone who listens to this album will be happy. A lot of my opinions were reflected in this album. I think I'll be happy if people respond with ‘the songs are good’ or ‘I want to listen to it again’. (Laughs)
Q. What do you appreciate about ‘Happy’?
This album is based on the band sound, which I like. The band sound is especially exciting when you hear it at a concert, so I recommend that you imagine what it would be like to hear this song at a concert.
Q. How did you feel when you first heard the title track ‘Running Wild’?
It felt like a reminder of nostalgia from the past. So I chose ‘Running Wild’ as the title track in the hope that people listening to the song would also feel relaxed and familiar.
Q. What was it like working with Gary Barlow of the legendary British pop band Take That as producer?
We corrected a lot of the pronunciation while recording. I made a few mistakes because American pronunciation and British pronunciation are different, but I did my utmost to record it over and over again and use the correct pronunciation. Of course, it was partly because my pronunciation wasn't perfect. (Laughs)
Q. What did you pay attention to when writing ‘I'll Be There’, a song in the rockabilly genre that is somewhat unfamiliar in Korea?
From the very beginning, I wrote the song with my singing in mind, so there weren't many difficulties. However, I had to make ‘One Two Three Four’ in the lyrics fun, which I had to record many times because I couldn't get it right.
Q. What was the lyric behind the fan song ‘In Love’?
I wrote a few lines about the emotions I felt after I became a trainee soldier. It was an honest record of my emotions, like, ‘My fans are waiting for me, I have to sing, I have to perform.’ I wrote lyrics based on this, looking back on my feelings at the time and wanting to get back to my fans as soon as possible. I hope these feelings reach the fans.
Q. What makes JIN ‘Happy’ now?
It seems that he has been involved in a lot of activities recently. When I saw how happy the fans were watching these activities, it made me happy too. I thought to myself, ‘This is what I work for.’
Q. Finally, what would you like to say to ARMY (the name of your fan club) all over the world?
First of all, I would like to thank all the ARMY people who have been waiting for the album. I think I was able to release the album ‘Happy’ because of you. ARMY members, I'm going to show up a lot for the other members, so don't get bored, I love you.
