He has once again joined hands with director Daewoo and is preparing to meet the audience with his new work "Hidden Fei-soo." He has mainly played cool and righteous characters, but this time he will be playing a character that he has never played before.
In a recent interview with Herald POP at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Son Seung-ho expressed his deep trust in director Kim Dae-woo.
"Hidden Fei Soo" begins with Sung Jin (played by Song Seung Hoon), who is searching for his missing fiancée Suyeong (played by Cho Yeo Jung), being approached by Mi Joo (played by Park Hyeon Joon), a junior at Suyeong's company.
A unique closed-room thriller begins when a mysterious man named JIHYO appears and Suyeong, who thought he had disappeared, is trapped in a secret space closest to them and witnesses their true faces.
The reason for her appearance was director Kim Dae-woo. "I had so much trust in the director. When I heard that he was preparing for a new film after a long time, he asked me to go out for dinner and I didn't know what we were going to talk about.
Even before I met the director, I said, "I'll do anything for you." Orchestra conductor Sung-jin, who lost his fiancee Suyeong overnight, is left with only a video letter from his fiance who suddenly vanished.
He is confused by the situation, but is instinctively attracted to Mi-joo, a cellist who joins the orchestra in place of Suyeong. "Compared to the characters I've played so far, he's a more down-to-earth guy.
I thought it was a kind of emotionless film, and that it was a facade that didn't seem to have any desire. I kept telling the director, "I'm not happy with this," even while I was filming.
If I were to meet him in society, he wouldn't be a character I would like to play. As an actor, I have never played a character like that, so
He continued, "I think 'Human Addiction' would have been difficult for me if I had been younger. I don't think I would have wanted to act out an adulterous relationship, not for the sake of the unusual setting or exposure."
He also said, "As I get older, I want to try acting that I haven't done before. After doing 'Human Addiction,' I felt like I was able to open up, which was good.
"It's a departure from reality, so I found it interesting."
He added that Song Seungho's acquaintances also praised the album, saying, "It was new and exciting."
"It has to be right, it has to be good, it has to be cool, and it has to help the poor.
I don't think it was meant to be that way. It seems like a very realistic and mundane character, so people are saying a lot about the actor Song Seung-ho playing such a character.
"I was glad that I was able to experience a lot of newness by playing a character who touches the ground," he said. Above all, he was impressed by the work of director Kim Dae-woo, who is known as "the master of high-quality eroticism."
Song Seung-ho will be showing off his extraordinary exposed scenes in "Hidden Fei Su" following "Human Addiction". "I don't think I could have done it if it wasn't for director Kim Taewoo's work," he said.
Honestly, the director's previous works were not about exposure for the sake of exposure. This situation had to flow through the film, and he wanted to create a film with the kind of persuasiveness that only came with such a scene.
"I was able to feel confident and relaxed because of his guidance. The direction was also precise. I felt courageous because it was with director Kim Dae-woo."
Song Seung-ho, who returned to the big screen after seven years, said, "I hope that 'Hidden Feis' will be an opportunity to revive the theater district."
He also expressed his wish.
