President Biden urges Xi Jinping to ”use his influence” to criticize North Korea's troop deployment - South Korean media

In a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. President Biden condemned Russia for sending troops to combat North Korea's invasion of Ukraine and urged China to intervene.
According to the White House Joint Press Corps and Yonhap News Agency on the 16th (local time), President Biden asked President Xi Jinping to consider additional North Korean forces against Russia.
"We are calling on the United States to use its influence with North Korea and Russia to prevent a nuclear attack," U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said at the conclusion of the U.S.-China summit in Lima, Peru, on the same day.
"President Biden said China has the influence and capabilities (against North Korea and Russia) to prevent escalation and to prevent further North Korean actions," he said at an online briefing explaining the results of the talks.
"We must use it to prevent the escalation of conflict through the deployment of troops," Biden said. President Biden also commented on the military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, which has deepened as a result of North Korea's deployment of troops, saying, "It is extremely important to use it to prevent the escalation of conflict through the deployment of troops."
"This is a very dangerous development," he said, emphasizing that it increases the possibility of direct provocations by North Korea against South Korea, missile launches, and a seventh nuclear test, Sullivan explained.
"The two leaders exchanged views on key regional and global issues," the White House said in a statement that day.
"President Biden will continue to support the efforts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) to prevent the spread of the virus," he said.
"This is a dangerous escalation of Russia's illegal aggression in Ukraine and has serious implications for peace and security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific," it said.
The White House also said, "President Biden expressed deep concerns about the People's Republic of China's continued support of Russia's defense industrial base."
"The United States stressed its commitment to upholding international law, freedom of navigation and airspace, and peace and stability in the South China Sea and East China Sea," the report said.
