Coinbase has announced that it will delist Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
On the 19th (local time), Coinbase failed to meet exchange standards for listed tokens.
The company said it plans to suspend trading of WBTC in December of this year. WBTC is currently suspended from market trading on Coinbase, with only limit orders available.
On this day, Coinbase posted on X (formerly Twitter) that "Coinbase checks whether assets listed on the exchange meet the criteria.
"Based on the results of our recent review, Coinbase will cease trading of WBTC at approximately 12:00 PM ET on December 19, 2024."
A Bitcoin wrapper is a token that represents Bitcoin (BTC) on another blockchain network.
According to Coinbase, Coinbase.com (simple and advanced trading), Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase
Trading on Prime will be suspended. Users' WBTC assets will remain accessible and they may withdraw their funds at any time.
