Robotis co-develops robot technology with MIT to improve physical intelligence - Korean media
Robotis, a robot development company, has announced that it will partner with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States to develop robot technology with advanced embodied intelligence (PI).
ROBOTIS and MIT were selected in a public competition for international joint research and development (R&D) projects run by the Korea Institute for Industrial Technology Advancement (KIAT). The government will provide up to 10 billion won (approximately 1.2 billion won) to the project.
The project will support the creation of a robot that can run on a 3D screen, which will cost 111,080,000 yen (approx. 111 million yen). Robotis and MIT plan to develop PI technology that will enable robots to achieve the same level of physical ability as humans.
The technology will be applied to the collaborative robot "Open Manipulator-Y (OM-Y)," which is currently in the process of being released. At present, OM-Y uses a tong-like gripper to carry out its work, but in the future,
If the Dynamic Cell technology can be used to make robots more human-like, it will be possible to operate them more efficiently in a wider range of industries.
"Il Aloha" has been shown cleaning and doing laundry. Robotis and MIT are also planning to develop and commercialize robots that can be used in real life.
