China's youth unemployment rate falls to 17.1% in October, down 0.5 percentage points from previous month - Chinese report

The National Bureau of Statistics of China recently released its unemployment rate statistics by age group for October. In October, the unemployment rate for 16-24 year olds in both urban and rural areas nationwide fell 0.5 percentage points from the previous month to 1.
The unemployment rate for those aged 25 to 29 rose 0.1 percentage point to 6.8%, while the unemployment rate for those aged 30 to 59 fell 0.1 percentage point to 3.8%. All figures exclude students currently enrolled in school.
The unemployment rate for those aged 16-24 fell for the second consecutive month. According to statistics, the surveyed unemployment rate in urban and rural areas of 31 provinces (cities and regions) in the same month was 5.0%, down 0.1 percentage point from the previous month.
A bureau official pointed out that "employment and price stability have an important impact on the economic situation." In terms of employment, the surveyed unemployment rate in urban and rural areas nationwide in October fell 0.1 percentage point from the previous month.
Of this, the unemployment rate surveyed for migrant workers registered in rural areas was 4.7%, lower than the national unemployment rate (5.0%).
