Why was Hyun Bin chosen to play General Ahn Jung-geun in the movie ”Harbin”?

The drama depicts the tense pursuit and suspicions among those pursuing this. Hyun Bin plays Ahn Jung-geun, a lieutenant general in the Korean Righteous Army who is determined to restore national sovereignty.
In particular, this work focuses more on the image of "General Ahn Jung-geun" rather than the image of Ahn Jung-geun as a valiant warrior and fighter that has been portrayed in existing history books and the media.
In relation to this, director Woo Min-ho said, "It's inevitable that an actor will feel pressured to play the role of General Ahn Jung-geun. He's a great hero."
He added, "I expected this movie to be really tough, so I needed an actor with the stamina to overcome difficulties."
He also explained, "The moment I met Hyun Bin, I knew he was Ahn Jung Geun. I had the intuition that he would endure and overcome this."
