Musk warns of South Korea's declining birthrate problem: ”The population will decline by two-thirds”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again mentioned the issue of South Korea's declining population. On the 27th (local time), Musk posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account a message about the declining population of South Korea.
Along with a graph showing birth rate trends, he wrote, "South Korea will see a decline of two-thirds (of its total population) in every generation. Population collapse."
The birth rate graph is from the "Sin
The report was taken from the Think Global Health website, which said that South Korea's total birth rate is expected to fall to the 0.68 range this year.
This is not the first time Musk has expressed interest in South Korea's declining population. He spoke at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last month.
"Based on the current birth rate, South Korea's population will be much smaller than the current one-third," he said at the symposium. "The biggest threat facing humanity in the short term is artificial intelligence.
"The first step is artificial intelligence (AI), but in the long term it will be a global population collapse." In September 2022, he also posted a tweet on his Twitter account quoting an article from the Wall Street Journal.
"Korea, along with Hong Kong, is experiencing the fastest population collapse in the world. If the birth rate does not change, Korea's population will drop to 6% of its current population (3.3 million) within three generations (about 100 years).
The total number of people in the 60s and older age group will likely fall to less than 10,000 in the 2024-2025 period, with the majority of people in their 60s and older making up the majority of the population.
The birth rate increased by 0.05 people compared to the same period last year to 0.76 people. This is the first reversal in about nine years since the fourth quarter of 2015, and is attracting attention.
The increase was also the largest since the second quarter of 2015 (an increase of 0.06 people).
