Soyeon of the girl group (G)I-DLE spoke out about the issue of renewing her contract with Cube Entertainment.
On the 27th, the YouTube channel "df." released a video of "BIBIM-POP" titled "Speaking out about the contract renewal controversy."
On this day, Soyeon commented on the lyrics of "Contract Ends in November," a song that became a hot topic after being performed at a concert.
Soyeon said, "I didn't lie, and I didn't know it would become a problem.
I hadn't thought about it at all. Sometimes I write music like a novel, and that stage was a stage where I could tell my story," she said, "I was thinking about what I should do with my life recently, and I realized that I don't know what to do anymore.
"The contract is over? Then the contract is over. I was very surprised at that time," she said. She continued, "Actually, celebrities sign contracts for three years, and then when they sign seven years, their contracts end at some point.
"I didn't think it was such a big deal because everyone has a beginning and an end, just like freelancers," he added, recalling that he was rather surprised by the enthusiastic response.
When asked, "Why did you decide to leave when you have so much space in CUBE?" Soyeon replied, "Me?
I won't be playing," he said with a laugh, denying the transfer rumors, saying, "It's still under discussion."
Soyeon said, "I don't know yet. We're discussing it a lot." She added, "I want to make music in the best environment for my members and myself, so the discussions have been going on for a long time.
"I'm really worried about how we can have fun in the best possible environment," he added. "It's really a headache. But I think the team comes first. As a producer,
"They are my parents and my leaders, so after seven years, I feel like I've become a mother. They are like my children and my closest friends. We are looking for the best way to work together," she said.
In response to the question, "When will it be decided?", he drew attention by saying, "I also want to file as soon as possible. Within November. I want to end my independent status as soon as possible."
Previously, Soyeon had been in discussions with her management company, Cube Entertainment, regarding renewing her contract, but ultimately decided not to renew.
In relation to this, Cube Entertainment has stated that the discussions are still ongoing.
At the "MAMA AWARDS," Soyeon performed a rap lyric saying, "My contract is over, and I'm a company, so I'll do the deal myself. If I was influenced by that, I wouldn't have come this far."
On Monday, the contract issue was brought to the surface again. In addition, he expressed his unchanging affection for the team, saying, "(G)I-DLE is eternal," and "(G)I-DLE is one."
