”Methamphetamine drinks cost 100,000 won per glass”... Illegal drug offenders arrested at foreign clubs in Korea

After receiving information that illegal drugs were being distributed at a foreigner-only club near Suwon Station, the authorities in charge conducted a joint crackdown on the scene and arrested both illegal drug offenders and illegal immigrants.
On the 2nd, Suwon Western Police Station announced that they were investigating 39 people, including Vietnamese suspect A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and the Immigration Control Act.
The number of people arrested was 12 for illegal drug use, 22 for unregistered foreigners, and five for violating their stay status (illegal employment).
Police received information that illegal drugs were being distributed at the club and that illegal immigrants were being employed as staff, and so a basic investigation was launched.

The joint crackdown team received a search warrant from the club and raided the club at around 1:15 a.m. on the 1st of this month. They obtained personal information on all 96 people present, including 11 staff members and 85 customers.
The police confirmed the allegations and conducted a simple drug test, resulting in the emergency arrest of 12 illegal drug users. Most of the 12 illegal drug users were found to have methamphetamine and MDMA (ecstasy). However, only a small amount of drugs were found at the scene.
No other illegal drugs were found other than 0.7 grams of min. The 12 people were 10 men and 2 women, 7 in their 20s and 5 in their 30s. Eight of them were unregistered foreigners.
It was confirmed that 11 of them were Vietnamese nationals and one was a Korean who had naturalized from Vietnam. The Immigration Agency is investigating the employment status of the illegal immigrants and will take legal action against those who are simply illegal immigrants through the relevant procedures.
Police also obtained a statement that he had bought a glass of soda mixed with methamphetamine from someone at a club for 100,000 won (approximately 10,000 yen) and drunk it.
The police plan to expand their investigation into the owner and employees of the store to see if they are involved in the distribution of illegal drugs. A police official said, "The owner, who is a naturalized Vietnamese, has not yet been charged with any crimes.
"There are currently no plans to investigate other clubs in the area," he said. The two agencies plan to continue working closely together to eliminate illegal drug crimes in clubs.
