タイバンコクに「観光企業支援センター」開所…日本に続き3番目=韓国
Korea opens ”tourism business support center” in Bangkok, Thailand... third after Japan
Considering the development potential of Thailand's tourism industry, the Korean government has embarked on creating a foothold for Korean tourism ventures to enter the Thai market.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Tourism Organization, opened the Korea Tourism Support Center (KTSC) in Bangkok, Thailand on the 3rd.
The Overseas Tourism Startup Center was established to support tourism venture companies with innovative technologies to expand overseas.
The Bangkok Center will be the third, following the Singapore Center which opened in August 2022 and the Tokyo Center which opened in December last year.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there are currently 11 and 15 companies based in the Singapore and Tokyo centers, respectively.
Through initiatives such as "Kispo Japan 2023" and Singapore's "Travel Tech Asia (TTA)" in 2023, the company has supported 392 partnerships between K-tourism companies and overseas businesses.
The decision to open the Bangkok Center was made after taking into consideration the results of a survey on overseas expansion conducted among tourism companies and the development potential of the Thai tourism industry market.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism explained that the tourism venture will develop businesses that incorporate innovative technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence) in areas such as data roaming, mobility, and accommodation management.
The facility will house eight companies. In addition to office space, the companies will receive comprehensive support, including local fundraising assistance, public relations and marketing, and tax and legal consultations.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold an opening ceremony and a networking event for companies and investors on the same day.
"The Light Business Support Center will act as a bridge between Korean tourism venture companies and the Thai tourism market in many ways, including market research and networking opportunities," he said.
In the current climate where the global tourism market is changing with new trends such as online travel, personalized travel, etc., we aim to help Korean tourism companies with innovative ideas to successfully enter the local tourism industry.
"We will continue to provide policy support, including through the Overseas Tourism Business Support Center," he said.
