Virgin Voyages Launches First Cruise to Accept Bitcoin as Payment Method
Virgin Voyages, a cruise company based in Florida, USA, has announced the first cruise product that accepts Bitcoin as a form of payment.
According to Cointelegraph, on the 3rd (local time), Virgin Voyages will launch a new annual pass (Annual Pass) starting in 2025.
When it launched its Cruise Pass program, it touted the title of being "the first cruise product to accept cryptocurrency."
The new product is an expansion of the company's previous Season Pass program, offering an entire year of cruise travel for one price.
According to a recent blog post, the company plans to accept Bitcoin (BTC) as a form of payment for its new service.
The base price for a cruise is $120,000 before taxes. At the moment, the company is expanding its cryptocurrency options, including stablecoins and Bitcoin rivals.
There was no mention of plans to renew the offer. The annual pass will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and offers the opportunity to take unlimited cruises for a year. The company said the product was intended to replace the "Season" product, which was primarily targeted at remote workers.
The plan was announced based on the success of the "Season Pass" program.
