In a post on his social media account that afternoon, Woo wrote, "The situation remains grave, with concerns over the possibility of a second state of emergency."
He added, "The democracy of the Republic of Korea cannot be destroyed by guns or swords. It is the legacy and strength of the democracy that we, the people, have built.
"We will take the lead in protecting the people and democracy," he said. The National Assembly Secretariat announced that it would deploy large buses to the National Assembly Lawn Plaza and National Assembly Sports Grounds to prevent the HYERI helicopter from landing at around 4 p.m. on the same day.
Prior to this, Chairman Woo held an emergency press conference at 3:20 pm and said, "Regarding the President's visit to the National Assembly,
"I have not received any contact," he said. However, he emphasized that "even if I were to visit, security-related discussions must take priority."
Chairman Woo said, "We cannot guarantee the safety of the president without discussing the purpose of the visit and security."
"It will be difficult to do so. I would like President Yoon to put his plans to visit the National Assembly on hold."
