The X (formerly Twitter) account of the Cardano Foundation, which operates and manages the virtual currency Cardano ADA, was hacked and used to promote fraudulent tokens.
On the 8th (local time), hackers hacked the CalDano Foundation's X account and spread false information that support for CalDano's native token, ADA, would be suspended.
The company then promoted a fake “ADAsol” token, citing a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as the reason for the false information.
Charles Hoskinson, founder of Caluda
Hoskinson confirmed the account hack via social media, but said that a fake ADAsol account had already been created.
The cryptocurrency recorded a trading volume of about $500,000 and then crashed by more than 99%. All posts about the ADAsol scam and the false SEC lawsuit have now been deleted.
Meanwhile, the Karuda Foundation clarified that the rest of the Karuda ecosystem was not affected by the hack, but advised users to continue using Karuda until further notice.
They advised people not to click on links provided by the No Foundation's X account.
