Deputy Prime Minister Choi made the remarks during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to South Korea Koichi Mizushima at the Government Seoul Complex. "I think there are many concerns from our home country, including from companies based in South Korea, due to the recent political situation.
The government and the Bank of Korea are working together to respond preemptively to volatility in the financial and foreign exchange markets," he said. "Our economic system is strong, and the government's emergency response system is functioning stably."
He continued, "Looking at past cases, shocks from non-economic factors such as politics have been limited and have had almost no impact in the medium to long term," and "We will continue to work to maintain trust between the two countries and promote economic cooperation.
Ambassador Mizushima highly praised the South Korean government's efforts to stabilize the economic situation, and called for continued and close communication.
South Korea's Ministry of Strategy and Finance said it would continue to maintain close communication with the embassies of major countries in order to reduce unnecessary misunderstandings about the country's economic situation and to explain its efforts to implement policy measures.
We plan to continue doing so."
