Stationery makers enter toilet paper market, focusing on quality with natural pulp = South Korea

Stationery manufacturer Morning Glory has launched "Honest Premium Toilet Paper," a triple-ply toilet paper made from natural pulp.
This product is the first quality-focused toilet paper to be sold under the brand name "Morning Glory." It is made from 100% pulp from trees grown from seedlings.
It is a non-fluorescent, non-pigmented product. It has received an "Excellent" rating in the Dermatest conducted by the German Dermatological Research Institute, so it can be used safely even by people with sensitive skin.
The company's move into the toilet paper market is part of its business diversification efforts. The stationery industry is facing a tough battle due to the recent decline in the school-age population.
Currently, 90% of the company's sales come from brick-and-mortar stores. Many stationery manufacturers are expanding online and into 1,000 won (about 105 yen) shops.
The company is not joining the trend due to consideration for the owners of brick-and-mortar stores. Its entry into toilet paper was chosen because it is an item that will have little impact on brick-and-mortar store owners.
Morning Glory has decided to focus its promotional activities mainly online, which is unusual for a hygiene product. In the future, Morning Glory will be expanding its lineup of hygiene products, including five-ply toilet paper and tissue boxes.
The plan is to increase the number of pools.
