Representative Han: ”Ruling party lawmakers should also participate in the impeachment vote against President Yoon” - Korean media
Han Dong-hoon, chairman of the ruling People's Power Party, said that ahead of the second impeachment vote for President Yoon Seok-yeol, scheduled for the 14th, lawmakers from the party will also be present.
According to a source close to the matter, on the 11th, Han said, "I believe that our party lawmakers should attend the meeting and participate in the vote at the next vote."
On the 7th, the People Power Party decided that its lawmakers would not participate in the first vote on the impeachment bill.
Only three lawmakers, Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Ye-ji, and Kim Sang-wook, participated in the vote, which meant the 200 required to pass the bill could not be met, and the impeachment bill was scrapped due to a failed vote.
However, with the second round of voting approaching, a mood of participation in the vote is spreading within the People's Power Party. So far, Ahn Cheol-soo, Cho Kyung-tae, Kim Sang-wook, Kim Ye-ji, and Kim Ji-hee have all been nominated.
Five lawmakers, including Rep. Jae-seop, have declared their support for impeachment, while Rep. Kim So-hee, Bae Hyun-jin, Park Jeong-hoon, Woo Jae-jung, Yoo Young-won, and Jin Jeong-oh will participate in the vote.
Meanwhile, the opposition Democratic Party has decided to reintroduce the impeachment motion on the 12th, one day later than originally planned. The grounds for impeachment have been strengthened, and the six opposition parties have jointly proposed the motion.
The People's Power Party is scheduled to elect a new floor leader on the same day and then debate the party's policy on voting on the impeachment motion.
