The bill is scheduled to be put to a vote on the afternoon of the 14th. Six opposition parties submitted an impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol to the National Assembly's Bill Division that afternoon. The impeachment motion includes all three members of the National Assembly, except for National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik.
The current impeachment motion was proposed by 190 opposition lawmakers. The bill does not include the points that were controversial in the first impeachment motion, such as value diplomacy, but focuses on the allegations of insurrection against President Yoon Seok-yeol in connection with the December 3 emergency martial law.
The main grounds for impeachment were the mobilization of martial law troops to break into the National Assembly, the mobilization of police to disrupt a vote by National Assembly members demanding the lifting of martial law, and the preparation of plans to arrest National Assembly members.
"The impeachment motion is a violation of the Constitution and the law regarding the president's unconstitutional and illegal declaration of martial law and his subsequent acts as the leader of a civil war," said Kim Young Min, a co-sponsor of the motion.
"The second impeachment bill is a historic one that successfully impeaches the crazy Yoon Seok-yeol," said Jeong Ha-ram, a lawmaker from the New Reform Party.
"The second impeachment motion will be a bill that will be submitted to the National Assembly at 2 p.m. on the 13th, and will be submitted to the National Assembly on the 14th.
The vote is expected to be held at 5 pm on the same day. The possibility of impeachment has increased further as People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon mentioned the need to impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol on the same day.
So far, seven members of the People's Power Party have officially stated their support for the impeachment bill.
