Catholic current affairs mass held in Gwangju and Jeju, South Korea: ”Let's protect democracy”

"We want to impeach President Yoon Seok-youl and protect democracy." In connection with the "December 3 emergency martial law" in South Korea, Catholic churches in Jeju and Gwangju held masses on the 12th.
The Gwangju Archdiocese Justice and Peace Committee held a "Mass of the Times for Righteous Justice and Peace in the Republic of Korea" at 7 p.m. on the same day at Namdong Cathedral in Dong-gu, Gwangju, presided over by Archbishop Ok Hyun Jin.
The mass that day was attended by about 1,000 believers who entered the cathedral, as well as about 300 believers who could not enter the cathedral.
"It was a royal guard coup to protect President Goo-yeol and his spouse Kim Gun-hee," and "Yoon Seok-yeol, the second Jeong Du-hwan who destroyed democracy, and his gang must be punished."
"The second impeachment motion must be successful," he said, emphasizing, "I want to protect democracy in solidarity with all believers."
A Catholic mass for the current situation was also held in Jeju. On the 12th at 7:39 pm, over 600 priests, nuns and other clergy and believers gathered at the Central Cathedral of the Bishop's Office to hear the "Yoon Seok-hee Mass."
Father Im Moon-cheol held a mass for the impeachment of President Yoon and for justice and peace in Korea. Father Moon-cheol said, "President Yoon told a blatant lie that he implemented emergency martial law to put pressure on the National Assembly.
"We believe that soldiers will not point their guns at the people," said Father Lim. "Even if they do point their guns at us, we will not allow the bishops, priests, nuns, and others to do so."
"We have you, my fellow believers, to serve us. We need neither fear nor despair," he said. He continued, "The Church, which should be the light of this world, has a calling to dispel darkness."
"We are gathered here today to expedite President Yoon Seok-youl's imprisonment," he said.
